The Good And Bad
The Benefits of Working with a Classmate
There are as many benefits to working with a classmate as there are obstacles. You can get more work done as a team and you can do less individual work to complete the assignment and get a grade. People can comment on your lit.circle so you can fix it, if necessary, and you do more work than you would if you didn't work with someone else because you have more time to focus on your project (Lit. Circle). When you work with someone else, you collaborate more and become better at collabrating.
Challenges/Obstacles
You have people yelling at you if you don't do it, and they always send you messages saying that it is due in two days why didn't you do your passage? You also sometimes get stuck with people who you aren't fond of, and are forced to work with them, anyway. You can get annoyed with them for not doing their passage, and your graded depending how well both of you worked, so you have less control over your grade.
Did I understand the Novel Better when I worked with a Partner?
Yes, I did. My partner(s) found things to write passages about I had never even noticed that they were in the book! Also, people found small things in the book. For example, when Vicky said that at the end, it says Julie, and everyone assumed that it said Miyax (Julie and Miyax are the same person)They helped me see things and comment on things I wouldn't understand without their help.

Lit. Circles
How did the discussion help you understand the book?
The discussion helped me understand the book better because when the group explains their points of view, if they agree with me, then I am probably correct, or along the path of being correct. But, if they don't agree with me, then I get a new perspective or a new idea. What I mean is that if one person says something, then you can see what they mean. Also, you can understand what they are saying. The group says some different things, and when we discuss, I can see their point of view as well as my own, and I can compare my thoughts to their thoughts. It helps me understand things better.
My group made a lot of connections. One connection I made was the first time I wanted to put the leash on my own dog. My dog had never seen a leash, so she hid under her cage at the SPCA because she was afraid of the leash and me. It reminded me of when Miyax tried to catch Amaroq's eye, and even though Amaroq wasn't afraid of her, he probably didn't know whether to trust her, like my dog. Miyax and I both wanted something from a dog/wolf. Both gave in at the end. Thinking about it, a lot of people made a connection with that part of the book.
We made a lot of predictions about the book, too. I thought that she would stay with the wolves for a while, because they are her family, and they would provide food for her. Also, I thought that she would meet somebody who was wolf hunting but then again, there aren't many people in the Arctic. Some people thought that Julie would make it to her destination, and others, like me, thought she wouldn't.

My Hypothesis
Why I think that the people north of the Tropic of Cancer is because there is more things to find and sell and more land to raise animals and things like that and grow trees. They also might have more oil, and oil is worth a lot, except when referring to the oil spill. So my hypothesis is...
If the people in the Tropic of cancer are very wealthy in the north side because they have more things and land to make them have more money. And that's what my hypothesis is about why people on the North side of The Tropic of Cancer are more wealthy than other people.

Diary of a Mud skipper( Swim's Diary)
Dear Diary:
Today the weirdest thing happened. A crab called Spike went up to me and he told me the news; That things called Humans( What we call nofins) are coming. He saw three grown ones and many small little ones. I kinda hoped he was joking. But then again, I had never seen a nofin, big or small, and I was about to party. One was going around in my head that moment.
Well, I saw them about half an hour later. They are HUGE!! They must have eaten a lot to get that tall. One must have been at least ten feet high! The little ones were worse then the big ones. They kept falling into the mud! I still don't know why they didn't swim. Then, I saw Spike. He was pinching a girl, and I decided to help him. But as soon as I got up to where he was, I remembered that I was a Mud skipper, not a crab and I couldn't pinch anybody. So, then T asked mother what I could do to help. She said that I could go into a nofin's boot. That's when I saw my chance. A nofin had fallen, and I decided that if I really wanted to help, I could crawl into her hair! But about twenty steps later, I fell out. The nofin screamed her head off, but by that time, I was going after the last one of the huge nofins. I was about to risk it and jump, but then I fell and I made a hole in the mud and rested. When I came out of my hole They were all gone.
So, diary, if there is one lifelong lesson, this has to be it. Never come out of the hole when Spike tells you there are nofins about.
Yours truely,
Swim (Agent Awesome)

Bullying on the bus
I was on the bus in the 5th grade, and they had assigned seating. This girl who sat in the back with me was getting bullied by three other boys and she told them to stop, and they wouldn't stop. She once had her phone with her, and then she recorded them bullying her. The boys found out, because they didn't know that she was recording, so they asked why she was so happy, and I gave the suggested that she recorded them. So then she said she did, and they told her to delete the video, and she would not delete it. They told her and they told her to delete the video, and she still did not.
Next, they started to attempt to grab her phone, and then delete it, but she fought them off. They then started hitting her, and punching her, and she started crying. I was watching, and when they tried to grab the phone from her, I wanted to shout stop, but I opened my mouth to tell them, but no words came out. When I got home, I told my mom what happened, and she said I should try better if that happened again. I was glad she moved seats, and then she also sat with her friends, but I feel really sorry for her, and I hope it never happens to anyone, ever.
I would try to speak up next time, and if it doesn't work I would try again. Also, I wish that never happened to her, and If I could go back it time, an fix one thing, it would be that if I tried to say something and words wouldn't come out, I would call the bus-mounter at the top of my lungs, or try to grab the boys of her instead of just doing nothing.
I really wish I had done something about it, because even though I hardly think about it, sometimes when I see her looking down, she reminds me of the time when she was bullied on the bus. I would have also probably tried to pull the boys off first, because we were at the back of the bus. I'm really glad the girl fought back, and she did her best at fending off the boys.

A time when I showed Courage
I was in Ohio for the summer, in 2008, and I was at a fair with my cousion, David. Josh. David and I went on all the rides we could, but there was one that Josh didn't go on. and I have no idea what its called, sorry. Anyway, David and I went on all the rides Josh couldn't go on, and I was scared. But, I had David and I knew that he was probably scared to.
The ride was green and pink. I had looked at it before, and it was very secure. It had support bars, and seat belts. We were also in a cage, probably so we don't go out. The ride did flips and it went around in every direction, and the cages were connected to the things that spun everything around.
When David and I went on it, the person went around and did all the safety checks, and we were off. I was spinning around like crazy, and screaming hardly. But I was still sceraming. I could hear David screaming too, and he never screamed. I was freaking out. It was really fun though, and afterwards we got cotton candy and watched the fireworks. That was really fun and I hope to do it again.

- It could help us because then we would know where sacred places are, and we could know where things could be, even how the people died, so that it doesn't happen to us.
- The early people used art by drawing out things like terrible killings, best hunting spots, even how they feel about someone.
- Artifacts tell us how people lived because they show us what happened to them, what they hunted with, and if they could talk, if they could write, and how they communicated.

Historians Rule!
Actually, I don't want to be any, but if I had to be, I would like to be... a Historian! I would like to be an historian because I like to study and touch old things. Also, I wouldn't have to dig or map anything. I also like the idea of when you are a historian, you are one of the first people to touch things that are in a museum. When you are a historian, the things you see might change. You probably start to see things like little dents, scratches, or things like what it might have looked like. Also, you could
feel things like sharp edges, cuts, dents, lines, etc. It would be so much fun being a historian! (Now that you think about it, I might start thinking the not wanting to be any again...)

Into- about Me!
Hi, I'm Julia. I'm from the USA. I like dogs and cats and horses and nature.I think that the school I'm at now is totally cool.
The last three books I've read
- Warriors- the fourth arpprentice
- Nicki, an american girl
- Warriors, Bluestar's prophecy
The last movie I've seen is Home Alone. It is about a boy who gets left alone for about five days, and does all these wacky things like stop these bad guys from stealing and breaking in. It was also sad because the kid's family left without him.
One academic goal is to be a great person, and memorise my locker combos!
One social goal is to become better at making friends
My fav. vacation memory is when I was in ohio for christmas and I went downstairs to open presents, and hear my grandma say " There are no presents under that tree for you this year!" She was KIDDING of course.
